Real Birth Stories
We had high expectations of an independent midwife and Kay Hardie exceeded them! Kay was very supportive and caring, and her confidence gave me/us confidence. We were impressed with Kay in so many ways, and it is difficult to find words to express it all in a review.
Thank you for supporting my decisions to hypnobirth and welcoming Lyndsey into our birth team. Both Lyndsey and Anna (my homeopath) cannot speak more highly of you and rightly so in my opinion.
I just want to thank you for such a truly memorable experience. I had the most amazing pregnancy and birth. Having you as my independent midwife was such a wonderful experience that Nathan and I will never forget. The day Sienna entered the world I will never forget.
We are so thankful to Kay for her support throughout pregnancy and for helping to give us the natural homebirth we really wanted. I will definitely choose to have a water birth at home next time. We are so delighted with our little girl and shes such a contented baby. Thank you Kay!
Without Kay, I wouldn’t have had Blake. My first baby was born in an NHS hospital. Following multiple interventions as I was ‘overdue’ he came into the world via an emergency c section. There were complications, my son was kept in SCBU and I was later re-admitted to hospital after discharge for further surgery. This made for a birth I recall as traumatic and left me with lasting feelings of anxiety, PTSD and postnatal depression
I never thought I would look back at birth in such a positive way; I viewed it as something I very much had to just "get through". But I look back on Luna's birth now with such a sense of warmth that I never thought possible.
Having Kay with me felt like having a mum there, someone who cared for me, and who was part of the experience with me. I am so so so happy that Kay delivered my beautiful Peter. I could never imagine giving birth without her and she will be in my heart forever.
I feel so incredibly proud of myself, of Tom, my Mum, Kay and of Hugo. Together we were just the perfect team and the birth allowed all my dreams of my perfect family to come true.
We chose to have an independent midwife because my Mum had had very bad experiences giving birth, and was keen for me to have a much easier experience. I heard that having an independent midwife is the best way to do to prepare for a straight-forward birth, as building a trusting relationship and feeling confident and empowered by a midwife allows you to be calm during the birth.
I suffer from anxiety and fear of childbirth (tocophobia) and as soon as we met Kay I felt relieved and reassured. We wanted to find an independent midwife to support us throughout my pregnancy and birth, to be a constant presence, someone with knowledge and experience, who would get to know us, be honest with us and who would act as an advocate if we went to hospital.
I thought that birth would be something I would have to recover from, emotionally, physically, psychologically – I was wrong.
As soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted my little one's birth to be as natural as possible. The fact that I had got pregnant at all had been a miracle; all the 'experts' had told me it wasn't going to happen.
If it hadn't been for Kay, I am sure that I would have ended up having a forceps delivery!
"We wanted an independent midwife to provide us with continuity of care..."
"I feel very lucky to have my baby girl Rasa here in England. When I talk to my female friends about their birth experience I understand how lucky I was that Kay crossed my way and became my midwife..."
Virginia and Kay had been my midwives for the birth of my first son, and Virginia for my second so I knew I would be in a safe pair of hands again. This time I was heavily pregnant with twins when I decided to contact them again because I needed extra support and Kay became our midwife for this new adventure of twins!
